I am completely opposed to the request made by Bush of Olmert to allow Fatah militants from Jordan to enter Gaza and help Abbas keep Hamas in check.
Addressing the Hebrew-speaking press after the meeting, Olmert provided more details: He was ready to allow forces in Jordan loyal to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, a relative moderate from the Fatah Party, to move to Gaza to help Abbas face down “the tensions with Hamas,” the Islamist terrorist group that runs the P.A. Cabinet and legislature.
The last thing we need in Gaza is MORE militants no matter what side they are on for internal political purposes, we all know that they will soon turn against Israel because that is what all Palestinian militants have in common.
It's just simply a BAD idea. Let Abbas and Hamas face off as is and kill as many of their own "security forces" as possible. Neither group is fit for governing the people of Palestine towards peace negotiations. A third (or fourth, or fifth, ...) group must rise.
